The results speak for themselves : the rebookings, the referrals and the clients who say things like "I've tried other places and nothing compares to coming here."
But the potential client who's never been to either clinic and is comparing your website to the one down the road to decide which to book with doesn't know any of that.
If both websites say roughly the same thing, she has no way of knowing that one of these clinics delivers something genuinely different from the other.
She chooses based on whatever small thing differentiates the two websites in front of her.
It may come down to price, availability, who came up first or even aesthetics.
All because your positioning didn't tell her there was a difference in how you do things and that you’re a premium clinic.
Positioning Is How a Potential Client "Knows" Anything About You
A potential client who has never met you, never experienced your treatments and never spoken to anyone who has knows literally nothing about you except what your website copy tells her.
Everything she "knows" about you and every impression that informs her decision comes from your positioning.
If your positioning doesn't communicate the difference that comes with booking with YOU and only describes your clinic in the same generic, safe terms as every other clinic she's looked at, she automatically assumes is no difference between you.
If your website copy and positioning doesn't tell her that what happens after booking with you is different to what happens after booking with the clinic down the road, she has no compelling reason to choose you over them.
"Could I Book With Either and Get the Same Thing?"
This is the question every potential client is implicitly answering when she compares your website copy to your competitors'.
Could I book with anyone offering this service and get roughly the same result and the same experience?
Or is there something different about this particular clinic that makes them the right choice?
When your website copy answers "yes, probably the same" , the decision becomes commoditised. Price, location and availability become the deciding factors because nothing else distinguishes the options.
When your website copy answers "no, this is different", she’s no longer choosing between interchangeable options.
She's choosing the option that offers something the others don't.
The treatments you deliver might already answer this question in person AFTER booking.
The challenge is that your website copy needs to answer it too BEFORE booking for the person who hasn't experienced your work yet and is deciding, based on positioning alone.
The Category of One: What It Actually Means for a Local Clinic
When you’re in a category of one, a potential client comparing your website to the clinic down the road doesn't think of it as choosing between two similar options.
She recognises that one of these options is offering something the other isn't.
This doesn't require your treatments to be entirely unique.
But it does require positioning that sets you apart from clinics offering similar treatments.
When that's clearly communicated, the clinic down the road stops being a direct alternative because they're not offering the same experience as you.
The Treatments Were Never the Problem
If you've ever felt frustrated that your clinic isn't getting the bookings your work deserves, the gap isn’t in your services menu.
It's in how you’re positioning your clinic and treatments versus your competitors.
Most likely, that you don’t stand out from them or seem any different to them in the eyes of potential clients.
Ready for Your Website Copy To Say What Your Treatments Already Prove?
If you know that what you offer is genuinely different from the clinic down the road but your website copy doesn’t communicate it, that's exactly what the strategic positioning in my website copy packages fixes.
By digging deep into the experience only you can deliver so the potential client comparing you to your local competition can actually recognises you as the premium expert who stands apart from them.
