You're Not Just Another Practitioner But Your Website Copy Makes You Seem The Same As Your Competitors
You know you're not just another practitioner.
Your existing clients know it too. They feel it in the way you work, the depth of your expertise and they tell you things like "I've seen other people about this and none of them approached it the way you do."
But the potential client who lands on your website for the first time doesn't know any of that.
She has no existing experience of your work to draw on and when she lands on your home page, you have just seconds to make sure she forms an impression that will determine whether she reaches out or moves on.
And if your website copy only describes your services in the same broad, professionally competent terms as every other practitioner in your space, she forms exactly the wrong impression.
She thinks you're just another practitioner because your messaging and positioning said so
How You've Inadvertently Positioned Yourself to Blend In
No wellness professional sets out to position herself as interchangeable with her competitors.
It happens by default. You subconsciously replicate what you think is helping other practitioners to grow their business and because no one has helped you to find and articulate what's genuinely different about your work.
And blending in is essentially the same as being invisible.
The Experience Only You Can Deliver
The things that make a practitioner genuinely different are often so embedded in how you work that you’ve stopped seeing them as differentiators at all.
The particular framework developed over years of working with a specific type of client.
The specific combination of training, personal experience and methodology that shapes how you approaches a problem that your competitors approach differently.
The way you structures your work and the specific outcomes your clients reliably get that aren't the standard outcomes of the standard approach.
These things exist in every practice I've worked with.
That experience is the foundation of positioning.
It's the raw material that strategic website copy extracts, articulates and places front and centre — so the potential client who has never met you can feel that your approach is very different from what she's found elsewhere.
Why "I Don't Think I'm That Different" Is the Starting Point, Not the Conclusion
One of the most consistent things I hear from wellness professionals at the beginning of a website copy project is some version of this:
"I want to stand out but I'm honestly not sure I'm that different from my competitors. I offer the same treatments, I have similar qualifications, I work in the same way as most people in my field."
But ordinary to you is not ordinary to your ideal client. And ordinary to you is not necessarily what your competitors are delivering, even when the service category seems the same.
Extracting genuine positioning differentiators means looking carefully at how you actually work, what your clients actually experience, what outcomes you actually deliver and what the specific combination of all of those things means for the particular type of client you serve best.
That process almost always surfaces things you didn’t think to mention because you assumed they were obvious or not worth saying.
You Are Not Just Another Practitioner & Your Website Should Make That Impossible to Miss
Your existing clients already know what makes you different and your website copy should position you to communicate that experience.
If yours doesn’t, let’s change that. Check out my website copy packages here.
