You Spent Money on Branding, a Photographer and a Web Designer But Used Claude to Write Your Website Copy. Here’s Why Your Website Still Isn’t Bringing Clients Consistently.

There's a specific type of website that I see regularly in the wellness, beauty and skin spaces.

It's beautifully designed, with cohesive branding and stunning photography.

But the website copy has clearly been churned out by Claude or ChatGPT in seconds.

It's indistinguishable from the copy on the website of the practitioner in the next town. And the one after that.

It’s making you blend into the competition and it’s costing you clients every single day.

How This Happens And Why It Makes No Logical Sense

The investment pattern I'm describing happens constantly in the wellness, beauty and skin space.

A practitioner invests hundreds or thousands in branding and website design. She commissions a website designer who spends weeks developing a visual identity that communicates exactly who she is and who she serves.

She invests in professional photography with aesthetic images that she'll use across her website and social media for years.

All professionals whose expertise she trusts to do a job she couldn't do as well herself.

And then she gets to the website copy and asks ChatGPT or Claude to write it.

The result is a website where every visual element has been professionally considered and strategically executed and where copy aka the one element that does the actual selling being treated as an afterthought that doesn’t matter.

What Website Copy Does That Design Can't

Here's the thing that most people who treat copy as an afterthought don't fully appreciate.

Design and copy do completely different jobs.

Design creates an impression. It communicates professionalism, aesthetic sensibility and the feeling of a brand. It answers the subconscious question "does this look credible?" in the first fraction of a second a visitor spends on your site.

Copy creates conviction. It answers the conscious questions a ready-to-book client is actually asking when she's deciding whether to reach out. Questions like: is this practitioner's approach specifically right for my situation? Does she understand my particular version of this problem? What makes her different from the other options I've found? Is she worth what she charges?

These questions can only be answered by website copy that positions you in the right way.

When those words are generic and could belong to any practitioner in your space because they were generated by a tool that only uses what’s already out there (hi, generic copy) and doesn't know what makes you specifically different, the impression created by your design lands on website copy that can't back it up.

The visual says: this is a premium, professional, credible practitioner.

The website copy says: I am similar to every other premium, professional, credible practitioner you've looked at today and there’s no reason to choose me over them.

The design raises expectations but the website copy fails to meet them.

What ChatGPT + Claude Actually DoWhen You Ask Them to Write Your Website Copy

To understand why AI-generated copy produces this outcome so consistently, it helps to understand what's actually happening when you prompt an AI tool to write your website copy.

AI language models generate text based on patterns in the vast body of content they've been trained on.

When you ask ChatGPT or Claude to write a homepage for you as a nutritional therapist, skin therapist or a wellness coach, it produces copy that reflects the patterns of how practitioners in those fields typically write about themselves.

Which means it produces something very similar or even identical to the most common version of how practitioners in your space describe their services, assembled from thousands of similar websites and distilled into something that sounds professional and reads ok.

There is nothing specific to you in it. Nothing rooted in your particular approach, your particular client or your particular results. Nothing that couldn't be applied to any practitioner in your field with minimal edits.

It sounds fine. It’s positioning you to blend into the competition and telling potential clients that you’re essentially the same as them.

What the Right Website Copy Does for the Investment You've Already Made

Here's the reframe that matters most if you've already invested in branding, photography and design.

Strong website copy doesn't replace those investments. It justifies them.

The design and photography raises expectations. The website copy meets them by positioning you as a premium expert who stands apart from the competition.

The impression is premium. The positioning confirms it. The combination of visual identity and strategic website copy creates the experience of a website that looks and reads like a practitioner who is different from her competitors.

Your Website Exists For One Reason - To Convert High Intent Clients Into Enquiries & Bookings

That conversion happens in the website copy. In the specific words that speak to her situation, position your expertise and make the case for why you're worth choosing over everyone else she's found.

Generic copy, however beautifully designed around, cannot do that job.

Your website deserves copy that matches the investment you've already made in everything else.

Ready to Make Your Website Investment Actually Work?

If you've invested in your brand, your photography and your web design and you're using AI written copy to fill the pages, the gap between what your website looks like and what it's actually delivering for your business is huge.

That gap closes when the website copy is as strategically invested in as everything else.
