My Physiotherapist Client Had Her Website Copy Rewritten By Three Different People. Here’s Why It Still Wasn't Getting Her Enquiries
She came to me frustrated.
The specific and expensive frustration of someone who had invested in their website multiple times and with multiple people and still couldn't understand why nothing was changing for her business.
Three different people had worked on the website copy for her physiotherapist website before she found me. Three separate attempts to fix the problem and so much time and hope that this time the website would start doing something positive for her.
And each time, the enquiries stayed silent.
She was a physiotherapist specialising in chronic pain. Her existing clients get results and even referred their friends. Everything about her physiotherapy practice suggested she should be getting consistent enquiries from her website.
But she wasn't. And nobody had been able to tell her why.
When I looked at her website copy, I knew immediately.
The problem had never been the words. It had been her positioning. And nobody who had worked on her website copy before had considered that.
What Each Person Had Done And Why It Hadn't Worked
Understanding why her website wasn't converting requires understanding what each person had actually done when they worked on it and what they hadn't.
Person one — the web designer.
Her website was beautiful, professional and visually consistent. The kind of site that looks credible immediately and makes a good first impression. The designer had done exactly what designers do brilliantly and created a visual experience that communicated professionalism and care.
But the website copy came from the client. Specifically from a ChatGPT prompt her client had run and handed over as the content to populate the pages. The designer built around it. It wasn’t her job to question whether it was strategically right.
Person two — the VA.
Recognising that the website copy wasn't quite right, she hired a VA to tidy it up. The VA was capable and diligent. She smoothed the language and improved the flow. The copy read better after she'd worked on it.
But tidying copy and writing strategic website copy are not the same skill. The VA made the words better without addressing the fundamental question of what those words should be doing: who they should be speaking to, how they should be differentiating this practitioner from her competitors and what strategic job each page needed to do in the client journey.
The positioning was unchanged and enquiries stayed silent.
Person three — the copywriter.
The copywriter was talented but good writing is not the same as strategic positioning. They still didn’t position her to stand apart from her phsyiotherapist competitors and the biggest problem still hadn't been touched.
The website copy had been written three times without ever fixing her positioning problem and potential clients didn’t see any reason to choose her over other gut health practitioners.
The Problem Nobody Had Seen
Here's what all three people had in common, despite their very different approaches and skill levels.
They had all treated her website problem as a words problem.
They all thought: copy is the issue. Make the words better.
None of them had looked at the bigger picture. None of them had asked the question that changes everything.
How does this website make her appear in relation to her competition?
When a potential client landed on her website, she saw messaging and positioning that was essentially the same as every other gut-focused nutritional therapist she'd found.
The positioning had never been addressed because nobody had identified it as the real problem.
There was nothing in her website copy that made a searching, comparing, ready-to-book client feel that this physiotherapist was different.
So they moved on every time.
What Changed When We Addressed the Real Problem
The work we did together started in a completely different place to every previous attempt at fixing her website: the positioning.
What made her specifically different from the other physiotherapists her ideal clients were comparing her to locally?
This is the foundation of my website packages as a website copywriter for physiotherapists.
The things that make a physiotherapist genuinely different are often so embedded in how they work that they've stopped noticing them. They're obvious to the clients who experience them but they’re practically invisible to the practitioner who delivers them every day.
Once we found it and I created messaging and positioning designed to make her ideal client land on the website and immediately think: this is different. This is the person I've been looking for, her business shifted.
She started getting enquiries from her physiotherapist website for the first time.
Why This Happens So Often in the Wellness Industry
Her story isn't unusual. I've heard versions of it more times than I can count from nutritional therapists, skin therapists, coaches, hypnotherapists, physiotherapists and practitioners across the wellness and health space.
Positioning can feel invisible because most wellness, beauty or skin websites look broadly similar to each other. When everything looks the same, it's hard to see that sameness as the problem. It looks like the norm, like just how wellness websites ‘should’ be.
But that sameness is precisely what's costing practitioners their website enquiries.
Fixing the words without fixing the positioning is addressing a symptom while the cause goes untouched.
What Strategic Positioning Actually Changes
When positioning is right, your website copy starts doing something it never did before.
It makes comparison feel unnecessary.
A ready-to-book client who lands on a well-positioned website and stops comparing with the same urgency.
She's not dismissing her other options consciously. She's already found what she was looking for.
The Real Question Your Website Copy Should Be Answering
Most website copy is answering the wrong questions.
It answers: what do you do and who for?
The question your ready-to-book ideal client is actually asking is different.
Why you and not someone else who does something similar?
That's the question strategic positioning answers. And it's the question that most wellness websites don't address because nobody has helped them find and articulate what that difference is in a way that a stranger, landing on their website for the first time, can immediately and clearly feel.
What I Do That's Different
I'm not here to rewrite your website copy so it sounds nicer. There are plenty of people who can do that but as this physiotherapist’s story shows, nicer copy without the right positioning underneath it changes very little.
I'm here to position you as the premium expert who isn't the same as the competition. To find the specific, genuine things that make you different. However buried they may be after years of playing it safe with generic messaging.
This is rooted in the experience only you can deliver for your clients.
And depending on your website copy package, your website copy is also written to be found through Google and AI search by the clients who are looking for exactly what you offer right now.
That's the website copy I write. For nutritional therapists, skin therapists, hypnotherapists, coaches, physiotherapists, osteopaths and wellness professionals across the health and wellbeing space who know their practice is better than their website suggests.
