Why You Need A Welcome Sequence

How can your welcome sequence help you to get more clients?

#1 - Welcome emails tend to get the most engagement

The emails in your welcome sequence usually get the most opens and clicks.

It makes sense, right? When a new subscriber has just joined your email list, they’re curious and want to know more about you. A good welcome sequence makes the most of that interest and gets the relationship off to a great start.

#2 - A Welcome Sequence Is Where Great Relationships Start

And by ‘great relationship’, I mean one that can lead to working together.

If they’re done well, welcome emails build a strong sense of connection and give people the chance to emotionally invest in you and your business.

You won’t appeal to everyone and you can expect a few unsubscribes if you’re being authentic BUT the subscribers who stick around and make it through your welcome sequence will be warmer and more invested in who you are and what you do.

And those are the people we want more of as they’re the people who may become clients in the future!

This may not happen right away unless a subscriber was already super warm but it’s much more likely to happen at some point if you laid great groundwork with a welcome sequence that has built trust and credibility.

#3 A Welcome Sequence Helps You Stand Out From The Competition

A welcome sequence doesn’t just build a relationship. It also helps you to stand out from competitors in your niche - especially if they don’t have a strong welcome sequence in place and haven’t seen the obvious value in it.

#4 - A Welcome Sequence Can Sell To Right-Fit People

The main aim of a welcome sequence is to build connection and trust but that doesn’t mean that you can’t sell too.

When you’re adding value, positioning yourself as an expert and building relationships in your welcome sequence, it’s a logical next step to share how you can help your subscribers. And because you’re running a business, that includes your paid offers. It doesn’t have to be limited to free offers.

Here’s another way of looking at it. Your welcome sequence can actually be a key part of your marketing/sales funnel. It doesn’t have to sit alone as purely a nurture tool and in truth, it can feel very disjointed if that’s the role it’s playing.

When I’m writing welcome sequences for my clients, I’ll usually look at how we can also use it as a sales tool, if that feels like a seamless fit based on how subscribers have entered the funnel.

A low cost offer can be the best fit for a welcome sequence and if you choose, you can follow with a core automated sequence that specifically aims to sell a higher ticket offer.

Not everyone will be ready to buy or work together at this stage in the relationship and that’s fine. But your welcome sequence can introduce them to your paid offer(s) and how these can help them. If they’re ready now, great. If not, the seed has been sown for the future.
