What You’re Missing Out On If You Don’t Have Welcome Emails After Your Freebie

Before subscribers become clients, they need to become friends first.

In other words, you need to build a super strong relationship with your subscribers before you can expect them to make an enquiry to work with you, book a call or take any meaningful action.

One of the best ways to start your relationship with new subscribers on a strong basis is a welcome sequence that builds trust and authority and helps subscribers get to know you and your business as soon as they sign up to your list.

A single welcome email generally won't do this.

But a series of welcome emails designed to start the relationship on the right foot means that potential clients get to know you, like you and trust you very quickly.

Which is half the battle for turning them into clients when they're ready.

If you're not approaching your email marketing from this angle, you're missing a huge trick.

If you don't have even a single welcome email after delivering your freebie, you're ghosting your new subscribers.

And this is a problem because they WANT to hear from you.

They expect it, even.

They've just signed up for a freebie.

They're genuinely interested in you.

They're excited to hear more from you straight after they sign up for the freebie.

If they get radio silence after the freebie, the opportunity to get to know, like and trust you quickly disappears.

You're also missing the opportunity to build on the trust they showed by giving you their email and position yourself as THE person to help them when they're ready.

None of this happens when you're inadvertently ghosting your subscribers after the freebie.

When you do show up in the inbox (often some time later with a newsletter), their interest in you and your brand has waned significantly and the trust and connection hasn't been built.

The chances of them booking a call or signing up to work with you have gone down a LOT.

But if you nurture new subscribers with a series of emails that help them get to know you, like you and trust you, there's a much bigger chance that they'll raise their hand to work with when they're ready.

They already know you and trust you off the back of your welcome emails, which gives your regular newsletters a much better chance of strengthening the relationship.

Your welcome sequence starts the relationship with new subscribers on the right foot.

Your newsletters grow the relationship and help to cement you as that trusted friend over time.

When potential clients keep seeing you pop into their inbox with value (not just educational value) and the know, like and trust factor really grows, it's much more likely that they'll reach out to you when they're ready.

Newsletters are a long game in that respect.

You likely won't get a flood of enquiries from any one newsletter but the cumulative effect of banking trust and connection and becoming that trusted friend in the inbox adds up.
